StepUp Ed Donates To Dzorwulu Special School
StepUp Ed, a non-governmental organization, has donated cash to the Dzorwulu Special School in Accra to support special needs youth in the acquisition of skills that would enable them to become economically empowered in the future. The donation was made by a representative of StepUp Ed to the head of the school, Mr. Tetteh. The school head filled with joy acknowledged that the donation would go a long way to helping the students as they undergo training to prepare them for the future.
A representative of StepUp Ed, Linda Safoa Antwi, who made the presentation, revealed that it was part of the NGO’s Corporate Social Responsibility and indicated that it would be an annual event.
“Although StepUp Ed’s main focus is on supporting needy and differently abled children with their education, the wellbeing of mothers and newborns is very dear to our hearts, hence the donation. We hope to be able to return to do it even bigger than what we have done,” she said.
Receiving the items, a nurse at the Maternity Unit, known only as Auntie Sarah, expressed their appreciation at the gesture saying it was very much welcome.
According to her, they usually had cases where new mothers who had financial difficulties could not afford clothes or diapers for their babies, so the donation was very timely.
“We get such cases on a regular basis, some are teenage mothers who have been abandoned by the fathers of their babies, others are financially crippled and need all the support. We are grateful to Step Up Ed and pray that more of such donations will come,” she stated.
One of the new mothers who received some clothes and diapers expressed gratitude to the organization.
StepUp Ed was founded in 2022 and aims at supporting needy and differently abled young adults through secondary and tertiary education.
